Bio
Born to Deaf parents who were teachers of the Deaf, I grew up immersed in Deaf culture and graduated from the Florida School for the Deaf and Blind. Following in my parents’ footsteps, I attended Gallaudet University, earning a B.S. in Economics and Finance.
After getting married and raising three sons—later welcoming two stepdaughters into my family—I realized that working with numbers alone wasn’t my true passion. This led me to pursue a master's degree in Deaf Education from McDaniel College, as well as an Ed.D. in Deaf Studies and Deaf Education from Lamar University.
With over 20 years of experience working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) children, along with teaching college-level courses in ASL, Deaf Studies, and Deaf Education, I have remained dedicated to supporting the Deaf community through education. I later became one of the first ASL teachers for students at Tennessee School for the Deaf - Knoxville (TSD).
Currently, I serve as the Director of Outreach Services at TSD. My primary goal is to help TSD shine even brighter by expanding awareness of the exceptional programs and services we offer to families of DHH children and to community stakeholders.
