Description
Support Lead Principal in improving the quality of ASL teaching and student learning by planning, implementing, and facilitating differentiated support to instructional staff to improve teacher effectiveness and student outcomes.

Terms of Employment: Full time 10-month employee

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Analyze school-wide ASL student data as the basis for developing a school plan and supports.
• Oversee the planning, facilitation and follow-up of ASL professional learning communities.
• Team-teach with ASL teaching colleagues, demonstrate model lessons, and develop and help implement ASL curriculum.
• Observe and provide peer assistance and coaching toward meeting teachers’ personal learning plan goals. Research and field-test, within the school, appropriate strategies that target the identified area of student need.
• Support ASL teachers with the understanding and implementation of National ASL Standards
• Participate in ASL professional development planning, curriculum meetings, and other meetings as directed by the Director of Instruction.
• Provide a clear description of the learning task and its content, monitor learner understanding and re-teach as necessary. Understand differentiation to meet the needs of diverse learners. Provide learners with appropriate practice and review, establish, and maintain learner involvement in the learning task.
• Collaborate in the ASL classroom with teachers.
• Support K-12 content area teachers with clarity and support in ASL instructional delivery using appropriate classifiers, expressions, etc.
• Work with ELA Curriculum Coach to align ELA and ASL standards and ensure bilingual education takes place in all classrooms.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements in areas of responsibility

• Ability to establish collaborative relationships with all stakeholders

Requirements
• Valid Tennessee professional educator license. An administrative endorsement or demonstrated progress toward this endorsement is preferred.
• Bachelor Degree in Education but Masters Degree in American Sign Language preferred
• At least five years of successful teaching as measured by performance evaluations, promotions and portfolio of work.
• SLPI:ASL rating of Advanced or above required; SLPI:ASL rating of Advanced Plus preferred. American Sign Language (ASL) sign classes and skill development support available for selected qualified applicants who do not meet the rating level.
• Exemplary evaluation scores on TEAM Rubric or equivalent and demonstrates expertise in content, curriculum development, student learning, data analysis, mentoring, and professional development
• Proven track record of student growth
• Instructional expertise demonstrated through model teaching, team-teaching, video presentations, and student achievement gains.
• Bilingual knowledge required
Salary
State of TN Salary Grade 900 – Salary is based on the Teacher Salary contract
