This position will be an employee of the county school based on student home residence, but will serve an elementary age student in Nashville, TN at the Tennessee School for the Deaf. You will report to the school daily. Salary will be determined by Clarksville-Montgomery County School System.

1:1 Educational Assistant positions are from year to year and/or as need is determined by the student’s IEP team.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The following duties are normal for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
• Provide consistent access to instruction and environmental information that is usually gained by typical students through vision and hearing, but that is unavailable or incomplete to an individual who is deaf-blind
• Provide access to and/or assist in the development and use of receptive and expressive communication skills
• Facilitate the development and maintenance of trusting, interactive relationships that promote social and emotional well-being
• Provide support to help a student form relationship with others and increase social connections and participation in activities.
• May provide general physical assistance to students with various disabilities
• Assist the teacher with classroom projects/activities while working with assigned student
• Ability to exert physical effort to assist students with individual needs in classrooms
• Often provide various physical movements to assist students throughout the school campus including but not limited to; stooping, kneeling, crouching, lifting, toileting, pushing, and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate to heavy weight.
• Able to follow oral and written instructions from TSD Management
• Establish effective schedule and work routines with students
.


The applicant selected for this position must complete full background checks including fingerprinting.
Background checks will be completed through TBI, FBI, DCS, TN Registry of Sexual Offenders, and TN Registry
of Abuse.

Terms of Benefits will be established by the LEA county.

Qualifications and Requirements:
• Hold a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Associate degree or higher preferred; OR *Have an equivalent of two years of college coursework totaling 48 hours at an accredited institution of higher learning; OR *Pass the Education Testing Service (ETS) Para-Pro Assessment
• Working computer knowledge
• Multi-tasked oriented, Firm, Team Player
• Must be able to work with small groups of students or an individual student for the purpose of reinforcing skills, answering questions, providing constructive academic feedback
• Must have excellent attendance
• Must be a positive role model for young children
• Able to work under the direction of a certified teacher TSD management and complete assigned work-related duties
• Ability to receptively and expressively communicate using American Sign Language
