Tennessee School for the Deaf - Knoxville
Our Purpose

The Tennessee School for the Deaf offers an individualized and comprehensive educational program. The school provides a total learning environment that utilizes state of the art curricula, materials and methods for the purpose of preparing students for adult life. Students are equipped academically, vocationally, physically, emotionally and morally to meet the daily challenges presented by society.

Parents of three of our students made the trip to Nashville for the PIE conference this year. They participated in a parent panel that inspired and encouraged all of us who work here. TSD once again is hosting Junior and Senior Summer Camps, as well as Camp Courage. The deadline for registration is June 1st.

The April issue of Breaking Ground, published by The Tennessee Council on Developmental Disabilities, has a great article about SibShops. Many of the brothers and sisters of TSD students have benefited from TSD's involvement and Tina Prochaska's work with this very beneficial organization. Here's a link to Breaking Ground.

Summer Institute

The 25th Annual Summer Institute for Educational Interpreters will be held June 12 - 15, 2017 at the Tennessee School for the Deaf in Knoxville. This training is sponsored by the TN Dept. of Education and TSD. The Institute is open to all interpreters. more information
