An employee in this class administers psychological assessments, interprets test results, provides recommendations on and participates in in-service training, and applies behavioral modification or behavioral therapy techniques. This is a pro re nada position as a licensed school psychologist providing evaluations of students, who are deaf or hard of hearing, to support the development of educational programming through a collaborative approach

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct intake evaluations for prospective students and present level of functioning evaluation for deaf/hard of hearing students at TSD-Knoxville, TSD-Nashville, and WTSD.
• Evaluate students through the initial evaluation process, complete written evaluation reports, and make recommendations to the eligibility / IEP team and interpret evaluation results to determine eligibility under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
• Provide direct counseling service to students and direct student intervention as determined by the IEP team or school administration.
• Consult with clinical psychologists for interpretation of assessment reports and recommendations.
• Contact Local Educational Agencies representatives for individual psychotherapy for students with critical needs.
• Participate in team conferences related to student admission, programming, placement, treatment, behavior, and other individualized needs.
• Conduct in-service training programs for staff and other professionals
• Must have the ability to travel to all Tennessee Schools for the Deaf campuses (Knoxville, Nashville, and Jackson). May be requested to travel to school districts throughout Tennessee. This employee would be paid for travel time and appropriate travel expenses would be reimbursed per state and/or school policies.

Requirements
• Hold a master’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university or equivalent in psychology and licensure as a school psychologist or complete an advanced program approved by the State Board of Education for the preparation of school psychologists; meet all professional assessment requirements as specified by the State Board of Education; and meet all the requirements for endorsement as a school psychologist.
• Has understanding and experience providing assessments to children and to those who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferred.
• SLPI:ASL rating of Survival or above required; SLPI:ASL rating of Advanced in preferred. American Sign Language (ASL) sign classes and skill development support available for selected qualified applicants who do not meet the rating level
• Licensure as a School Psychologist with the State of Tennessee is required at the time of employment and must be maintained for the duration of employment.
