Senior Excursions

Seniors Rollin' on the River . . .
The Class of 2008 enjoyed a ride on the "Star of Knoxville" riverboat. The trip for the seniors has become a part of TSD tradition. It was a great day and seniors Albani Matthews, Jessica Webb, Amanda Wonofsky, Katie Ley, John Darr and Delvoskee Bond had a great time rollin' down the Tennessee River.

. . . And Seniors at Six Flags
Before the the riverboat ride, there was Six Flags Over Georgia.Posing for an official Six Flags picture are, in the fron row, Amanda Wonofsky, Jessica Webb, Delvoskee Bond, Katie Ley, Albani Matthews and Jeanne Fair. In the back row are Theron Strickland, Sam Hinton, Sharon Brown, John Darr, Justin Shell, Tyler Wooten, and Sam Carter.

On April 11, members of TSD’s senior class, along with Sharon Brown, Sam Carter, Jeanne Fair, and Theron Strickland, embarked on a class trip to Austell, GA. Why Austell, Ga.? Because it is the home of Six Flags Over Georgia, the world renowned amusement park. For the past several years, the students of the senior class have been feverishly raising money for the trip. For one weekend in April, all their hard work paid off.

After arriving at the Holiday Inn Express in Austell on Friday afternoon, we unpacked, settled in, and drove into town to have dinner at a Chinese restaurant. The next day, we awoke to some wind and rain, but the weather cleared by the time we arrived at the park. Six Flags was everything we anticipated! The students and ever-intrepid Theron fearlessly tested rides like Goliath, Ninja, and Acrophobia, while Sharon, Jeanne and Sam more sensibly enjoyed the carousel and hanson cars. To top it off, at the end of a long day, Sharon and Delvoskee won it big at the ring toss!

The success of the senior trip was a result not only of the students’ hard work and fundraising ability, but also of their maturity and good behavior. In addition, much appreciation is given to Theron and Jeanne, without whom the weekend would have been far less fun, if not impossible.
