Eggstraordinary Eggcitement
Superintendent Alan Mealka (left) and Director of Instruction Elaine Alexander (right) give the one, two, and three…. GO! for the Elementary Easter Egg Hunt.
When spring arrives, you can count on the annual Easter Egg Hunt in Elementary school at TSD. Preschool through 5th grade participate in the fun no matter the weather! This editor can only recall one "rain out" in over 30 years of egg hunting! Students and staff have lessons in boiling and dying eggs vivid colors several days prior to the hunt. The Easter Bunny is contacted through a private source and the eggs are hidden. Rumor has it that the Beta Club helps the Easter Bunny find great hiding places for the multicolored eggs and candy. The younger children find their eggs out in the front of the school. Third, Fourth and Fifth grades hunt out on the playground. With a "1….2…3…. GO!" Superintendent Alan Mealka and Director of Instruction Elaine Alexander send everyone scurrying to put as many eggs and candy in baskets as they can. Some children seemed content to wander slowly and consider each egg. Others grab handfuls and move on to the next patch. I guess you are never too old to find hidden treasures!
